Miradouro dates — the city's viewpoint terraces — came up constantly: free, scenic, and long enough to talk without the pressure of a table for two. Cais do Sodré and Príncipe Real were the most-mentioned areas for a casual first drink, precisely because "casual" is taken seriously here; nobody expects a big production for date one.
A few things members flagged as easy to miss: punctuality runs looser than a lot of visitors expect, so a 15-minute wait isn't a red flag. Portuguese dating culture leans slower than swipe-app pacing suggests. Being a foreigner comes with genuine warmth in this community, not just tolerance.
